RepCalc · Version 1.1

Deeper when you ask

Released

At a glance

  • Coach: optional weight and rep suggestions that explain why, round to weights your gym can load, and hold or reset when you need it.
  • Programs: run a folder for 4–12 weeks, finishing with a lighter week. Home shows the week you're on and offers Run Again when it ends.
  • Gyms: save the bar, plates, and dumbbells at each place you train, and switch gyms mid-workout.
  • Dumbbells count twice in volume, with “kg each” on paired exercises. Warm-up sets stay out of your totals unless you include them.
  • Body: track body fat, waist, chest, arms, thighs, hips, and neck as well as weight. Add progress photos that stay on your iPhone, with an optional Face ID lock.
  • Steps & Cardio: today's steps, a daily step goal, and runs, rides, and swims from apps like Strava and the Workout app, which can count toward your weekly goal.
  • Siri, Shortcuts, Controls, and Spotlight: start a workout by voice, from Control Center, or with the Action Button.
  • Guides: short how-to pages in Profile, from your first workout to Coach and Programs.

RepCalc 1.1 adds depth for people who want it. If you just log sets, nothing changes: you get no new tabs, no new columns in the set table, and no extra steps before Start. Each new feature is off until you turn it on, and you turn it off in the same place.

Coach

Choose Suggestions: Coach in Profile → Workout Settings → Logging. A short reason sits under each weight and rep suggestion, such as “Every rep done last time — add weight.”

  • Holds after all-out sets. If a set was logged at RPE 10, Coach suggests the same weight instead of adding more.
  • Resets when you stall. After three sessions without progress, it suggests going 10% lighter and building back up.
  • Weights you can load. Suggestions round to your gym’s plates and dumbbells, one step at a time.
  • A method per exercise: double progression, linear, or a top set with back-offs.
  • RPE or RIR. Log effort the way you think about it.

Coach only suggests. Nothing changes until you tap.

Programs

Pick a folder in Workouts and choose Run as Program…. Set 4 to 12 weeks and whether the last one is a deload. Home, Up Next, and the folder show which week you’re on. The deload week has about half the working sets and lighter suggestions. When the program ends, Run Again starts it over.

Gyms, dumbbells, and equipment

Under Gyms in Workout Settings, you can now set up each place you train with its bar, plates, and dumbbells. You can also list equipment that isn’t there. With a second gym, the workout gets a small gym switcher. The plate calculator, warm-up sets, and Coach all use the current gym, and Replace Exercise suggests movements that gym can do first.

Dumbbell pairs now count twice in volume, and paired exercises say “kg each” so it’s clear what to enter. You can include warm-up sets in your totals or leave them out, under Volume & Sets.

Body and progress photos

The Body card in Activity → Progress now tracks body fat, waist, chest, arms, thighs, hips, and neck as well as weight, each with its own chart. Progress photos are optional and compared side by side. They stay on your iPhone and are never synced, exported, or shared by RepCalc. Location details are removed when you add one, and you can require Face ID to view them.

Steps & Cardio

Turn on Steps & Cardio from Customize Home or Profile → Apple Health. A Home card shows today’s steps, your progress toward a daily step goal (7,000 is suggested), and this week’s runs, rides, and swims from apps that save to Apple Health. You can let those sessions count toward your weekly goal and streaks. Choose which activities count and a minimum length. The same run saved by two apps counts once, and a session that overlaps a RepCalc workout never counts twice. Steps never count as workouts. Health data is read on your iPhone and never stored or synced by RepCalc.

Siri, Shortcuts, Controls, and Spotlight

Say “Start Push Day in RepCalc”, or add Start Up Next to Control Center, the Lock Screen, or the Action Button. Search a template’s name in Spotlight to start it. To hear your history or log your body weight by voice, your iPhone must be unlocked. Only template names are searchable.
