What's New
Your FoodieCalc account, everywhere
The biggest FoodieCalc update yet. Create an optional account with Apple or Google to carry your data across devices, customize your widgets with new ring choices including water, scan more products with expanded US barcode data, and meet the new app icon — all still completely free, with no ads or paywalls.
Your FoodieCalc account, everywhere
Create an optional FoodieCalc account with Sign in with Apple or Google. Sign in once and your foods, goals, and history come with you — backed by our own secure sync so you're no longer tied to a single device. And it's completely optional: FoodieCalc stays 100% usable without ever signing in.
Why it matters
Get a new iPhone, or just want peace of mind that your data is safe? An account means your history is never stranded on one device. There's a bigger reason too: a FoodieCalc app for Android is on the way, and an account is what will let you carry the exact same foods, goals, and history across platforms — so switching or using both is effortless. Signing in is entirely your choice, and nothing is uploaded until you explicitly say so.
How to use it
- 1Prefer to keep it local? Skip sign-in entirely — every feature still works.
- 2Ready to sync? Open Profile, tap Sign in, and choose Apple or Google.
- 3Opt in to upload your existing data when you're ready — you're always in control.
Private by design
We only ever use Apple and Google as proof of who you are — there are no passwords to manage and no email logins. Your on-device data stays the source of truth, and sync is opt-in.
Why it matters
You get the convenience of cross-device sync without handing over more than you choose. No accounts are ever merged behind your back, and you can link a second sign-in method or delete your account whenever you like.
How to use it
- 1Manage sign-in methods any time from Profile.
- 2Link Apple and Google to the same account for flexibility.
- 3Delete your account and server data whenever you want, from the app.
Faster, customizable widgets
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets got a big performance pass and new customization: choose which ring a widget shows — including a dedicated water ring — so it tracks exactly what matters most to you. Calories, macros, and hydration all stay glanceable and update more reliably.
Why it matters
Check where you stand for the day without even opening the app, and pick the ring you actually want on your Home Screen — now with hydration as a first-class widget, quicker to load and easier to read at a glance.
How to use it
- 1Long-press your Home Screen, tap the plus, and search FoodieCalc.
- 2Long-press a placed widget and tap Edit Widget to choose its ring (calories, a macro, or water).
- 3Add a Lock Screen widget from your wallpaper settings for an at-a-glance ring.
More barcodes recognized for US customers
Barcode scanning now falls back to additional food databases for customers in the United States when a scanned product isn't found in our primary database — automatically, and at no extra cost.
Why it matters
Fewer "product not found" dead ends at the shelf: if a barcode is missing from one source, a US customer's scan can fall back to another and still pull up the nutrition facts.
How to use it
- 1Scan a barcode as usual — the fallback kicks in automatically when the first lookup comes up empty.
- 2Coming soon: we're working on a free way to broaden barcode coverage for more markets too.
A fresh new look
FoodieCalc has a brand-new default app icon — a clean "FC" monogram. Prefer the original? The classic mascot icon is still one tap away.
Why it matters
A crisper icon for your Home Screen, with none of the old character lost — you choose the one that feels like home.

How to use it
- 1Go to Profile → Preferences → App Icon.
- 2Pick the new Simple icon or switch back to the classic mascot any time.
Also new since you last updated
If you're coming from before 1.3, you also get adaptive calorie goals that respond to your Apple Health activity, effective-dated goal history so past days keep the target that applied then, water tracking with a daily goal, and a universal quick-add button in the tab bar.
Why it matters
Goals that keep up with your real activity, hydration you can log in a tap, and every common action — food, AI logging, barcode, water — one button away.
How to use it
- 1Turn on adaptive goals in your goal settings (requires Apple Health).
- 2Tap the quick-add button in the tab bar to log food, water, or scan a barcode.
